Douglas Fairbanks Sr and his super star wife Mary Pickford was considered as the first power couple of Hollywood. Fairbanks Sr was also the founding member of Academy of Motion Pictures which gives out Oscar awards in movies every year. As a power couple, they not only owned studios, but also had friendships with some of glamorous global icons like Maharani of Cooch Behar.

Douglas Fairbanks Sr made a movie named 'Around the World in 80 Minutes' inspired by the novel written by sci fi author Jules Verne. In 1931 he went on a trip to Hawaii, Japan, Hong Kong, China, the Philippines, Cambodia, Siam and India with his favorite director Victor Fleming of 'Gone With The Wind' , his coach Chuck Lewis and cameraman Henry Sharp, who had an innovative sound-recording device, enabling him to make audio recordings in remote parts of Asia. He visited Cooch Behar in the last leg of his trip where Maharani of Cooch Behar, Indira Raje hosted his entourage and arranged for a game hunt . Fairbanks shot a tiger, a panther and 3 leopards sitting on the back of an elephant. He always had a dream of hunting a leopard which he fulfilled in Cooch Behar. Similarly, whenever Maharani of Cooch Behar used to visit Hollywood, was always graciously hosted by Fairbanks Sr and Mary Pickford.
