Most of us have heard about Elephanta Caves or Kanheri Caves in Mumbai but do you know out of all the caves in Mumbai, the most tumultuous one are the Mandapeshwar Caves in Borivali West?! While rest of the caves in Mumbai were dedicated to Buddhism, Mandapeshwar caves were the only ones dedicated to Lord Shiva.But in 16th century, Portuguese vandalized the caves and built a church on it which were later destroyed by the Marathas in 18th century.
