Indian history is famous for brave women like Rani of Jhansi, Chand Bibi et al but much earlier than them in 13th century when Islamic rule had started in India, a quiet corner of Andhra in modern day Warangal was a courageous and diplomatic queen named Rani Rudrama Devi. In an age when male succession was the royal Hindu dynastic norm, Rani Rudrama Devi was declared as the successor by her father as he had no official son. Rudrama Devi did face a very stiff opposition from her relatives and sub ordinates who refused to accept a female as their chief. She fiercely overcame her opposition through bravery and diplomacy. She even defeated her neighbors. Overall, she was successful in maintaining the demarcations of her empire.
