TIQD#20 - The Ramayana of Bengal - Krittibasi Ramayan #incredibleindia #theindianquest #krittibasiramayan #ramayan #regional #literature #bengal #medieval #age Like Tulsidas's Ramcharit Manas, similarly prior to that in the first half of 15th century in Nadia in Bengal, Krittibas Ojha, a Kulin Brahmin belonging to a well known Pandit family composed the Sri Ram Panchali or famously known as Krittibasi Ramayan. The style of the narration was Panchali style which is a typical Bengali poem narrative. Krittibasi Ramayan was composed on a more contemporary set up which was the then Bengali society. The adaptation was more in sync with that era of 15th century. More than Valmiki's Ramayan, it is Krittibasi Ramayan which is still followed today. Later a more contemporary version with notes on Krittibasi Ramayan was published in 19th century by Serampore Mission Press.
