Paying homage to ancestors is an age old tradition in India. Pinddaan, a very important ritual for the salvation of the soul of the dead relatives and ancestors, it is a must for all Hindus to go to Gaya in Bihar and complete the ritual. Vishnu's feet is one such spot in Gaya where it is said that salvation is achieved. The feet is embedded in a basalt rock and is worshiped for thousands of years. Later Maharani Ahilya Bai Holkar repaired the modern day standing temple.
